Medical Oxygen Production

MIL’S Innovates with VPSA Technology

As part of MIL’S 100th anniversary, Christian Pic, Managing Director, and Catherine Foltzer, shareholder alongside Antoine Moussali, presented a major innovation in the field of on-site medical oxygen production.

This VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology makes it possible to produce oxygen directly from ambient air. While atmospheric air contains approximately 21% oxygen, the process can concentrate it to up to 95% oxygen, meeting the requirements of healthcare facilities.

The VPSA technology relies on the use of vacuum and suction. Vacuum facilitates the passage of air through molecular sieves, which selectively adsorb nitrogen, while also enabling their regeneration. This approach represents an evolution of conventional PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) systems.

More Efficient and Energy-Efficient Medical Oxygen Production

Several years of research and development (R&D) were required by MIL’S to adapt this technology to the specific requirements of medical oxygen production.

The objective is to provide a solution capable of producing oxygen directly on site while optimizing energy consumption. By using vacuum for the adsorption and regeneration of molecular sieves, MIL’S VPSA technology is designed to reduce energy consumption compared with a conventional PSA system.

This innovation addresses several key challenges in the healthcare sector: greater production autonomy, high performance, energy efficiency and optimized resource management.

With this new medical oxygen generation technology, MIL’S combines its long-standing expertise in medical vacuum systems with innovation and energy efficiency, delivering a new generation of solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of healthcare facilities.
